Ambi Subramaniam

Fondly known as Ambi by all, Lakshminarayana SubramaniamView photo has already begun to follow in the footsteps of his father Dr. L. Subramaniam. He gave his first performance at the age of seven and has already performed in India and abroad.
He was part of a special performance at the Gateway of India in
2003, featuring the violin greats Dr. L. Subramaniam and Jean Luc
Ponty. He also played at the 50th Birthday celebrations of Spiritual
Leader Mata Amritananda Mayi, where there were representatives from
all 191 U.N. member countries and thousands of devotees from around
the globe. He has also performed for Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda
Saraswati in Mysore, and for the 70th Birthday of Swami Shantanand
Saraswathi in Malaysia. Ambi also performed at a special open-air
millennium concert on New Year’s Eve 1999, where
over two hundred thousand people were present.
View photoAmbi plays Western and Karnatic violin with equal ease, and has already appeared for the Associated Board Royal School of Music’s violin exams and has ranked first, securing distinctions and special awards. Ambi has completed Grade 8 in violin and Grade 5 in theory. He has also received distinctions while appearing for Piano and Western Theory exams.
In addition to performing with his father, Ambi also performs solo concerts. Ambi performed with his father for Karnatic concerts at the prestigious Dussehra Festival at the Mysore Palace and during the Centenary Celebration of the Banglaore Gayana Samaj.
Ambi was chosen to represent South Indian Music at a Special Concert at the Sathya Sai Auditorium where there was a satellite link to Carnegie Hall with performers exchanging musical ideas from both sides. Ambi also performed for the 3rd Annual Bharatiya Pravasi Divas closing ceremony at which HE The President of India and many other dignitaries were present.View photo
He has just returned from a concert tour of Switzerland and India where he performed with his father at the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad and at the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival.
Ambi is currently studying in the 12th standard in Bangalore India.
