Frode Haltli
Frode Haltli (b. 1975) was awarded the "Young Soloist of the Year 2001" title by the Norwegian Concert Institute at the Bergen International Festival 2000. His debut CD will be released on the ECM New Series label autumn 2002. It will contain works by Nordic composers for solo accordion and gagaku variations by Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje, which is performed with the Vertavo String Quartet.
Frode Haltli studied accordion at The Norwegian State Academy of Music and The Royal Danish Concervatory of Music (RDCM). He ended his studies at the RDCM in 2000 and currently lives in Oslo, Norway. He made his official debut recital in Copenhagen in September 2000 with world premiers by Bent Sørensen and Asbjørn Schaathun. The concert recieved extremely good reviews in national Danish newspapers. In September 2001 he made his debut concert in Oslo, this time with the Cicada String Quartet. 


He began playing the accordion at 7 and won many national competitions and recieved several scholarships and legacies. He was awarded first prize by the professional jury in the televised finals of The Norwegian State Broadcasting's "Talentiaden 1991". 

He has also recieved prizes at a number of international competitions. In 1999 he won a second prize in the prestigious International Gaudeamus Intepreters Competition in the Netherlands. Almost 70 soloists and ensembles on different instruments participated in this prestigious competition.

Frode has played at festivals and concerts in Europe, Russia, Canada and in the USA. In Norway he has played a lot for radio and television, worked as a studio musician and performed in almost every part of Norway and on most of the important music festivals. 

Frode is actively working with chamber music. He has performed with major orchestras, and is a member of the Oslo Sinfonietta. At present it is the trio POING which occupies much of his time. The trio which includes saxophone, accordion and double bass performes newly written works by mostly young Nordic composers. Frode also plays accordion and bass trombone in Trygve Seim Orchestra and Norwegian folk music in RUSK with folk singer Unni Løvlid and fiddler Vegar Vårdal. POING, RUSK and Trygve Seim Orchestra will all release CD's in 2002/3.
