Seetaa Subramaniam

 

Born into a musical family, Seetaa Subramaniam’s talent was noticed and nurtured from the very beginning. Her early musical training was given to her by her father Dr. L. Subramaniam and her mother Vijayashree Subramaniam. She has learnt both Western Classical and Karnatic music and now sings a blend of both, which gives her voice a very unique quality. She also learns from her mother Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam. Seetaa enjoys singing various styles of music, including Indian Classical, Western Classical, and musicals, as well as Global Fusion and Orchestral Music.

Seetaa Subramaniam has been dubbed a ‘Third Generation Musical Prodigy’ and an ‘Assured Young Soprano’ by the press and her vocals have been described as ‘hypnotic’.

Although young, Seetaa already has many performances to her credit. She performed as a soloist for the 1996 Miss World Coronation Ball in Bangalore. Seetaa was also, at age thirteen, a featured soloist in the Astral Symphony an orchestral composition premiered at the prestigious Oslo Concert House with the NRK Philharmonic Orchestra. This was followed by tours in Norway and India. She has performed for both the President of India Sri KR Narayanan and Vice President Kishan Kant of India as a soloist for the Astral Symphony on Republic Day 1997.

She once again performed for the Indian President Sri KR Narayanan and the Chinese President Jiang Zemen during the former’s official Presidential visit to China in 2000. At this concert she sang as a soloist along with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra. Seetaa performed for the W2K World Millennium Concert in Mumbai, in 2000.

She performed in Cochin for the 50th Birthday celebrations of spiritual leader Mata Amritananda Mayi at which representatives from all 191 U.N. member nations and thousands of devotees were present.

Seetaa sang for Prince Charles at the Balayogi Auditorium in New Delhi. She was also part of a performance at the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2004, an annual meeting of people of Indian origin from around the world, at New Delhi.

A song she sung, entitled Harmony of the Hearts, on the album ‘Global Fusion’ has the audio rights bought by an American film company. She is currently working on her debut solo album and is also being featured on Dr. L. Subramaniam’s new fusion album, “Beyond Borders”.
Seetaa is in her final year of law school.
